What Kind of Nut Are You?

Let's face it...at the end of the day, we are all a bunch of nuts. I ran across this very scientific information a few months ago in Good Housekeeping. For some strange reason I thought it was super informative, so I cut it out and have been carrying it around with me in my Louis Vuitton, I mean, Baggallini. I am very clearly a cross between an almond and walnut, and Mr. T is a cashew which I find extremely hilarious. What does your favorite nut say about you?

Salted Peanuts: you're extroverted and charming, and you crave attention
Almonds: you have high standards, are very motivated, and tend to be a perfectionist
Pecans: you're generous and considerate and a devoted, loyal friend
Cashews: you're dependable and easygoing
Walnuts: you're competitive, and easily annoyed when life's inconveniences get in the way

I didn't know I couldn't live without it...

Unbeknownst to me, December in the diamond business is full-on chaos.  I know you are probably thinking I am a moron for not assuming it would be, but I feel so strongly about an engagement ring NOT being a gift that I didn't even consider that the rest of the world didn't share my opinion.

Full disclosure-J proposed (his idea of a proposal, anyway) to me on Christmas day.  It was after I had opened real gifts, though.  I just feel like a guy giving a girl a ring on Christmas says, "Hey, baby, how 'bout I give you a little Me this year?".  Me getting proposed to on Christmas is just a little "ha ha" from the powers that be.

Anyway, that is the long excuse for why you've only been getting the Organize and not the Accessorize on this blog.  I've simply been too busy.

For Christmas/Hanukkah this year, Santa/Hanukkah Harry/J gave me a Kindle.  I LOVE IT!  I had no idea what I was missing.  I'm 43% into my third book since December 25th.  It is the one accessory that I probably wouldn't have bought for myself.

I've slowed down my reading for a number of reasons.  Having two kids isn't exactly condusive to carving out time lounging on the sofa with a good book.  I'm running out of storage space and am sharing Jake's bookshelf.  Half of the shelf is Dr. Seuss and the other half is Patricia Cornwell death and destruction.  Lastly, hardback books aren't cheap and finding time to browse at the bookstore is difficult.

Nearly all of the above problems are solved by my sweet, precious Kindle.  Space is no longer an issue and with the click of a button I can download a new book!  The books are also totally affordable-I haven't seen one for more than $12.99 and that was a brand new release.

I think my marriage is going to be saved by the Kindle, also.  I got this cute little cover with a built in light.  Now I don't have to hear J say over and over again, "how much longer is that light going to stay on?"

For those of you who read my previous post regarding diamond earring jackets, don't worry.  J has informed me I have a very big birthday coming up and shouldn't put all my eggs in my Holiday basket.  I am definitely holding him to that!

Santa Baby

This isn't about what Santa brought me this year, but rather what he took away:

Above are the before pictures. When Mr. T and I moved in to this house, we decided to go with the TV above the fireplace. I never loved the whole look, especially the cords. Cords bug me. I'm not sure why. I started having issues with them about 15 years ago...go figure. I generally take a staple gun and staple them under table tops and down the back side of table legs so you can't see them...weird, i know. Otherwise things end up looking like poo. But, that's just my personal opinion.  Below is the after picture:

Yes, Santa came and took my cords away!! He also mounted the TV on the wall which I am pretty sure wasn't easy because of the plaster and fireplace...but I LOVE it! The fireplace and chimney are a fire hazard and we didn't use them anyway so Santa also built a nifty little shelf in the top of the fireplace for Mr. T's HD cable box and gave us power down there too. I have been waiting 2 1/2 years for this little project and am thrilled with the way it turned out!

The Naked Plumber

Top 10 reasons why I love my old house:
1.       Plaster walls and ceilings = cracks everywhere
2.       Old creaky hardwood floors
3.       Formal dining room with a huge gaudy chandelier
4.       No laundry room turns the kitchen into a folding station
5.       4” x 4” master bath
6.       No pantry means I can’t waste money at Sams
7.       Using the electric skillet and waffle maker at the same time trips the breaker
8.       One upside down outlet in the master bath means no blow drying my hair in there
9.       Gas heat
10.   The Naked Plumber…I can’t shower without the drain stopping up. I am constantly trying to wash my hair and plunge the drain at the same time.
What do you love about your house?
